Nicholas F. Wakim is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Water, a Cayman Islands company specializing in desalination and water and solids recovery. Initially raising capital for the venture in 2009, Nicholas Wakim developed Phoenix Water following a successful career as an investor, investment professional and corporate advisor. Phoenix Water is based around its proprietary water recovery technology, which allows it to treat super-saline and industrial wastewaters. Drawing on his previous experience in bringing products to financial markets, Mr. Wakim looks to commercialize the company’s patents within the next two years.
Along with investments in the technology and commercial sectors, Nicholas Farid Wakim was involved in several businesses that served as a training ground for his business skills and acumen as an entrepreneur and executive. Since 1993, he has served as Principal of Phoenix Group, which assists clients in setting up businesses in the Middle East and Gulf Cooperation Council regions. From 1998 to 2000, he served as the CEO of Intercorp Group, which helped establish corporate structures and listings for small- to medium-sized businesses. Nicholas Wakim’s company also served as a liaison for joint ventures and technology transfers between companies in the United States, the Middle East and Australia. Formerly, he also served Vision Financial Group, which built its success on the development of debt reduction software for corporate clients. Over the course of his career, Mr. Wakim has developed important industry contacts, including a number of prominent financial institutions, members of the Saudi Arabian royal family and leading Australian government officials.
When not absorbed in his work, Nicholas Farid Wakim enjoys staying active through golf and skiing. A thoroughbred racing and breeding enthusiast, Nicholas Wakim is a member of the Victoria Racing Club, the Melbourne Racing Club and the Moonee Valley Racing Club.
